👑 Who is Shri Mahavir Swami?
Bhagwan Mahavir (also called Vardhaman) is the twenty-fourth and final Tirthankar of the current time-cycle. He was born in Kshatriyakund (near Vaishali) to King Siddhartha and Queen Trishala, in the Ikshvaku dynasty. He is depicted with a golden complexion, and his emblem (lanchhan) is the lion. He attained moksha at Pavapuri — on the night of Diwali, one of the few Tirthankars who did not attain nirvana on Sammet Shikhar.
Mahavir Swami's teachings — ahimsa, satya, achaurya, brahmacharya and aparigraha — are the living foundation of Jain dharma today. His name "Mahavir" means "the great hero," one who conquered the inner self completely.
