Who is Shri Adinath Dada?
Bhagwan Adinath — also called Rishabhdev or Adishwar — is the first Tirthankar of the current time-cycle. He was the son of King Nabhi and Queen Marudevi, and was born in Ayodhya. Before renouncing the world he was the first king, and he taught humanity the essential arts of civilisation — agriculture, writing and the crafts of living. He then became the first shraman (ascetic), attained kevalgyan (omniscience) as the first to do so in this age, and finally reached moksha on Mount Ashtapad.
He is lovingly called "Dada" and is the principal Lord enshrined on the holy Shatrunjay (Siddhachal) mountain at Palitana — which is why the closing lines hail Him as "Siddhachal ke Vasi", the One who dwells on Siddhachal.
