👑 Who is Shri Mallinath Bhagwan?
Bhagwan Mallinath is the nineteenth Tirthankar of the current time-cycle. Born in Mithila to King Kumbha and Queen Prabhavati, in the ancient Ikshvaku dynasty, the Lord is depicted with a blue (sapphire) complexion, and the emblem (lanchhan) is the kalasha (water pot). He attained moksha at Sammet Shikhar (Shikharji).
Mallinath is unique among the Tirthankars: the Shvetambar tradition holds that the Lord was born a princess, Malli — revered as a female Tirthankar — while the Digambar tradition holds the Tirthankar was male. The name is linked to mallika (jasmine), from a tender event during the mother's pregnancy.
